Simulation of adaptation of blood vessel geometry to flow and pressure: Implications for arterio-venous impedance

چکیده
Aortic input impedance relates pressure to flow at the aortic entrance distal to the aortic valve. We designed the CircAdapt three-element model of this impedance, consisting of resistive wave impedance, arterial compliance and peripheral resistance. Direct association of the elements with physical properties facilitated incorporation of nonlinear elastic properties of wall material and adaptation of vessel geometry to mechanical load. Use of the CircAdapt impedance model is extended to all arterial and venous connections to the heart. After incorporation in the existing CircAdapt model of whole circulation dynamics,

Simulation study of Hemodynamic in Bifurcations for Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation using Electrical Analogy
Background and Objective: Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation (CAVM) hemodynamic is disease condition, results changes in the flow and pressure level in cerebral blood vessels. Measuring flow and pressure without catheter intervention along the vessel is big challenge due to vessel bifurcations/complex bifurcations in Arteriovenous Malformation patients. The vessel geometry in CAVM patients are...

Objective(s): Multifunctional nanomedicine is the new generation of medicine, which is remarkably promising and associated with the minimum toxicity of targeted therapy. Distribution and transport of nanoparticles (NPs) in the blood flow are essential to the evaluation of delivery efficacy. Materials and Methods: In the present study, we initially designed a phantom based on Murray’s mini...
متن کاملMathematical modelling of Sisko fluid flow through a stenosed artery
In the present study, the nonlinear model of non-Newtonian blood flow in cosine-shape stenosed elastic artery is numerically examined. The model is carried out for axisymmetric, two-dimensional and fully developed blood flow. The vessel wall is assumed to be have time-dependent radius that is important factor for study of blood flow. The cosine-shape stenosis convert to rigid artery by using a ...
متن کاملVascular remodelling of an arterio-venous blood vessel network during solid tumour growth.
We formulate a theoretical model to analyze the vascular remodelling process of an arterio-venous vessel network during solid tumour growth. The model incorporates a hierarchically organized initial vasculature comprising arteries, veins and capillaries, and involves sprouting angiogenesis, vessel cooption, dilation and regression as well as tumour cell proliferation and death. The emerging tum...
متن کاملImpact of Blood Vessel Wall Flexibility on the Temperature and Concentration Dispersion
The analysis of solute and thermal dispersion in pulsatile flow through the stenotic tapered blood vessel is presented. The present problem is an extension of the work done by Ramana et al. who considered the time-invariant arterial wall. In the present model, the flexible nature of the arterial wall through the obstruction (called stenosis) is considered and it is achieved with the he...
